Linux Mint 19.3 “Tricia” is here with exciting updates.

The popular and user friendly Linux distribution Linux Mint brings another milestone update. Based upon Ubuntu 18.04.3 LTS (Bionic Beaver), the Linux Mint 19.3 will be supported until 2023. That means, users who does fresh installs, upgrades from 19.2 will be receiving updates, security patches for next 3 years.

Being a long term support release (LTS), Linux Mint Tricia brings enough updates with this release which would compel you to try it out.

What’s new in Linux Mint 19.3

A New Warning System for your system

Linux Mint 19.3 brings a new tiny warning symbol right at the system tray section notifying you that your system needs attention. A new system reports window gives a list of items categorized by ‘problems’, ‘information’ and ‘crash reports’. Not only that, the System reports would provide you one click solution to your problems as well.

HiDPI Support

You can expect a complete HiDPI support across Linux Mint application with this release. So, Linux Mint and its associated apps would look crisp in high end monitors and laptops.

New Applications

Three new apps are being introduced with Linux Mint 19.3. Celluloid (earlier named as mpv Media player) replacing Xplayer as default media player, Drawing replacing GIMP image manipulation software, Gnote replacing Tomboy as default note taking application.

All these new applications are chosen for better performance, battery optimizations in laptops.

Latest Desktop Environment for you

The Linux Mint 19.3 comes with three flavors of desktop environments – Cinnamon, Xfce and Mate. The three desktop environments are launched with their latest releases. Linux Mint 19.3 features Mate 1.22, Xfce 4.14 and Cinnamon 4.4.

Upgrade

If you are running Linux Mint 19.2 and wants to upgrade, launch Update manager and click Refresh. You should be seeing Upgrade option from Edit menu. Click on Upgrade and follow on-screen instructions.
