Kazam is a very simple and useful tool which can be used to record desktop in Ubuntu including audio.

There are other similar apps as well in Linux, but there are very few tools available which actually simple to use and can perform this simple task without trouble. Kazam is one of them.

  • Amazing and simple GUI and can easily be integrated with latest Unity, Gnome version.
  • Two modes are available – Record Screen i.e. screencast and screenshot mode.
  • Options to record: Full screen esktop, any single window, any custom area on desktop
  • Ability to record mouse cursor
  • Sound also can be recorded when doing screen cast from either desktop speakers out or from microphone.
  • Wait time can be set in seconds before recording starts
  • Option to choose your customise frame rate for quality recording

How to Install

Ubuntu, Mint, elementary, Debian

ubuntu
To install Kazam in Ubuntu using terminal run below commands in sequence. Enter password when prompted.

sudo add-apt-repository ppa:kazam-team/stable-series
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install kazam

Run

  • Type Kazam in dash in Ubuntu. Click the launcher icon.
