Kdenlive 20.12 released with some interesting and long-requested features – same track transition, subtitle editor inside the timeline, new effects, and many more.
Kdenlive is a free and open-source cross-platform video editor. It is one of the best and features-rich non-linear editors out there. Based on Qt, Kdenlive is a KDE App and it is perfect for beginners to advanced users.
Having said that, the latest release Kdenlive 20.12 brings some heavy improvements. Here are the details. Let’s take a look.
Kdenlive 20.12 – What’s New
The same track transition finally made way to Kdenlive and it is going to make editor’s life easy on their workflow.
A new subtitle widget allows you to add subtitles directly in the timeline. How cool is that! This GSOC feature also supports the export and import of .srt
subtitle files! Not only that you can even apply HTML tags to color the subtitles.
The effects list is improved and organized to make it more usable and productive.
A new Pillar Echo effect is added (those typical Instagram videos with blurry sides) for your vertical videos. Also, the crop by padding effect can now be keyframed.
A new video equalizer is added to adjust the image brightness contrast, saturation, and gamma.
Many performance improvements in this release and the timeline clips can change color based on the tag. This is very handy for large projects with complex timelines.
The bug fix and improvement list is huge. Refer to the complete change log here at the end).
